“Start Smart” is a two-hour instruction course taught by CHP officers designed for new and future drivers ages 15 to 19, according to a CHP press release.

Officers will outline factors that contribute to fatal accidents and how they can be avoided. Some of the officers are expected to talk about their experiences investigating fatal crashes involving teen drivers.
