A woman was stopped around 10 p.m. Saturday by law enforcement officials while riding a Huffy beach cruiser drunk on U.S. Highway 101 in Gilroy, according to a Gilroy Police Department weekly press report.

But that’s not all.

The suspect told officers she planned to ride the bike to San Jose, according to police. She was arrested for petty theft and operating a bicycle while drunk.

Woman falls off bike, cited for drunk in public

Police arrested a 38-year-old woman for being drunk in public after she fell off her bike while cruising through downtown Gilroy, according to the GPD.

Officers approached Yvonne Martinez in the 7600 block of Monterey Road around 1 a.m. Sunday after seeing her take a spill, police said.

Martinez refused medical attention, and officers determined she was drunk. She was cited and released pending sobriety, according to the GPD.

Suspects steal truck, plumbing tools

An unknown number of suspects made off with more than $20,000 in stolen items from a local plumbing company, including copper piping and a pick-up truck, according to the GPD.

The theft occurred at the American Plumbing Yard on Leavesley Road in Gilroy, police said.

Assailants appeared to have cut through a $1,000 chain-link security fence to reach the items, which also included miscellaneous plumbing tools, according to the GPD press report.

A $150 glass window also was reportedly broken.
