REC SOFTBALL: Men’s Fall D regular-season title belongs to AG Construction

AG Construction earned the Men’s Fall D Softball League’s regular-season title at 6-2 Wednesday with a 14-7 nod over the Battle Brothers at Las Animas Park.
The AG win, coupled with a loss by 5-3 Dirty Ruthless Vatos, left the Builders with the first seed in Wednesday’s Playoff Night. AG Construction plays fourth-seed Feather Haven at 6:30pm, with Freddie Sanchez Hardwood Floors and the Vatos playing at 7:40. The two winners play at 8:50 for the playoff title.
Alex Garcia hit two home runs and Johnny Orosco added a two-run homer to key the AG victory. Sean Subia went 3-for-4 for the winners. John Gonzales hit a triple, double and single, scoring three Battle Brothers runs. Joe Woods added a two-run homer for the Brothers.
The Players-HD Auto Glass surprised the Vatos 19-18, scoring five runs in the top of the final inning to erase an 18-14 deficit.
Steve Borgna hit a two-run double and scored on a Joe Ojeda triple to highlight the Players comeback. Mike Radcliff went 4-for-5 for the Players. Mike Garcia collected four hits and scored four runs for the losers.
Freddie Sanchez Hardwood Floors (5-3) claimed the second seed with a 20-5 win over Feather Haven. Aaron Muro drove in eight runs with two home runs and a triple. Mike Gonzalez produced a two-run homer for the Floors. Aaron Parker homered and Jessie Nunez went 2-for-2 for Feather Haven.
Kalai Kraze turned back Corey’s Girls 9-6 Wednesday at Christmas Hill Park to move into first place at 6-2 in the Women’s Fall League standings.
Corey’s Girls, holding a 5-2-1 mark, will replay a tied game with Station 55 Wednesday at 6:30pm to determine if Corey’s shares first place going into the playoffs.
Kalai Kraze snapped a 6-6 tie with three runs in the top of the seventh inning. Dora Olivares opened with a double and scored on an error. Shelly Ceballos and Kathy White scored insurance runs.
Irene Rivera went 3-for-3 for Kalai Kraze. Eva Neibel went 3-for-4 for Corey’s Girls.
Pops’ Gals and Station 55 played to a 14-14 tie. Vicki Groppe’s two-run double highlighted a nine-run fourth for Pop’s Gals. Melissa Garcia’s two-run single in the sixth completed the Station 55 scoring. Kathy Bennett went 5-for-5 for Station 55. Julie Berggren went 3-for-4 for Pops’ Gals.
Walton & Sons Masonry secured at least a share of the Men’s DD title at 6-2 Wednesday with a 30-10 decision over Prime Exterminators.
Walton & Sons (6-2) pushed across eight runs in the first inning as Johnny Andrade doubled and singled. Geoff Graves went 5-for-5 for the winners. Gonzo Palafox went 3-for-3 for Prime. VFW Vets and the Borrachos, each in second at 5-2, complete the DD season next week.
