Man arrested after shooting at house on Alexander Street

Nineteen-year-old Gilroy resident Ivan Lustre was arrested Sunday night after firing a single shot at an inhabited dwelling on the 7500 block of Alexander Street.
The arresting officer was already on the 7600 block of Alexander Street conducting an unrelated investigation at 8:52 p.m. when he heard a single gunshot in the vicinity, said GPD Sgt. Pedro Espinoza.
The officer observed Lustre running from the area and gave chase. Lustre was apprehended a short time later during a coordinated search, Espinoza said.
A firearm was also located as a result of the search.
GPD’s preliminary investigation has revealed that Lustre fired the weapon at an occupied dwelling before running from the officer. No injuries were reported by anyone inside the residence.
GPD’s Anti-Crime Team is investigating the incident as a gang motivated crime, Sgt. Espinoza said.
The investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the GPD Anti-Crime Team at 408-846-0350. Parties wishing to remain anonymous may call We-Tip at 1-800-782-7463 (800-78-CRIME).
