USSSA Baseball: Pac-Coast 2-2 in World Series tourney

The Pac-Coast 11U Baseball team is making it's run through the USSSA World Series.

CHINO HILLS—The Pac-Coast U11 baseball team sits at 2-2 through two days of play in the USSSA World Series.
The Gilroy-based squad opened the tournament with a 2-0 record, downing Park Bums and the East Los Angeles Athletics Tuesday. Manager Eric Cantu expected “tougher” competition on Wednesday and he was right. Pac-West fell 11-2 to Attack Baseball Club in Game 1 of its doubleheader and 4-3 to Lights Out, of Arizona, in Game 2.
Pac-West took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first against Attack when Eric Cantu Jr. advanced home on a throw. Attack retaliated by scattering seven runs over the next two innings to lead 7-1.
Jacob Woods scored from third off a balk from Attack’s pitcher in the top of the third for Pac-West’s final score of the game. Attack added another run in the bottom of the inning and three more in the fourth, outhitting Pac-West 11-3.
The Garlic City squad kept things closer with Lights Out in Game 2, again taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Eli Sepulveda capitalized on his opponent’s error.
Lights Out scored two in the second and one in the third to lead 3-1 until the top of the fifth. Eric Cantu Jr. smacked a line drive single to left field, scoring Wood. Eric Cantu Jr. hustled home on an error on the next play to even the score at 3-all.
Lights Out sealed the victory when one of its players stole home in the bottom of the inning.
Pac-Coast will square off with Attack Baseball at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the USSSA U11 World Series Gold Bracket.
