More damage

Heavy winds knocked down trees all over Gilroy and sent crews out to stop the hazards. On Friday, by 3 p.m. 6,800 customers were without power in Gilroy, according to PG&E.
Heavy winds toppled trees and brought down power lines in Gilroy and Morgan Hill. Extra crews were dispatched to the area from outside Gilroy to help local crews restore power to customers safely and as quickly as possible.
In Hollister, thousands of customers lost power after heavy winds knocked down two transmission poles and impacted a substation in Salinas that serves the area.
By Monday, power had been restored to the majority of those impacted by Friday’s storm, with just a few residences remaining without power in Morgan Hill.
When the second storm system ripped through the area starting early Monday morning, 430 Gilroy residences lost their power, according to PG&E. Crews worked safety on restoring service in those areas, with PG&E estimating power would be restored by 6 p.m.
