Christopher gets down to basics

During practice Tuesday, members of the Christopher football team took part in defensive drills in the final week before a mandatory dead period. Here, players work on a tip drill where one pops the ball in the air and the trailer goes for an interception

Football teams across the Central Coast Section will put away the tackling bags and sleds as they enter into a two-week dead period starting Friday.
Practice can officially begin again starting Aug. 4 as teams get into the final stretch ahead of the Aug. 25 kickoff of the 2017 season.
In the final week of practice, the Christopher football team was getting at it both on the practice field and at a 7-on-7 clinic down in Salinas.
On Tuesday, Christopher went through a series of defensive drills, including tackling fundamentals.
The Cougars will next come together on Aug. 3 as part of the annual Midnight Madness tradition where they will begin working out at the stroke of midnight, to be the first in the section to begin practicing.
