Second half push carries Christopher over Woodside

Christopher’s offense exploded in the second half with 28 unanswered points in its 41-14 win over Woodside Friday.
Christopher went down early to Carmel 6-0 in the first quarter on Saturday, but the game quickly turned into a rout as the Cougars won 41-14.
Christopher set a tone early against Sobrato and didn’t let up in a 38-0 season opening victory Friday night.

Sanford takes reins of Cougars

Christopher High School has a new, but familiar starting quarterback for the 2017 season in Ben Sanford.
There’s no two ways about it: Christopher is not happy with its record over the last two season.
Coach Tim Pierleoni sat alone in his office above the boys locker room.
Football teams across the Central Coast Section will put away the tackling bags and sleds as they enter into a two-week dead period starting Friday.
Three Gilroy area seniors will get one more shot at playing high school football when they join the south roster for the 43rd annual Wedemeyer Classic.

Christopher’s athletes of the year

Collins Okoronkwo and Kaelee Scott walked across the Christopher High School campus on a Sunday. Confetti from Thursday’s graduation still lay strewn about the grounds. Signs still adorned the outer walls of warning parents not to bring in fireworks or other noisemakers.
For the second straight year, Gilroy played host to the Central Coast Section track and field semifinals and the local athletes stepped up to the occasion.
