WEDDINGBall/Vines
Melissa Diane Ball and David Robert Vines were married June 27, 2008 at Willow Heights Mansion in Morgan Hill.
Melissa is the daughter of Reverend and Mrs. Larry Ball. She received a bachelor's degree from Bob Jones University and will be working as a tax accountant.
David is the son of Dr. and Dr. Dwight Vines. He received degrees from Bob Jones University and will be the vice principal at Mission Christian School and will teach history and coach boys basketball.
The couple had their honeymoon in Cancun, Mexico and will live in Phoenix, Ariz.
ANNIVERSARIES
Webenbauers celebrate 50 years
Joan Ann and Thomas Roberts Webenbauer celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary July 20 at Cinnabar Hills Golf Club with family and friends.
The couple was married July 20, 1958 in Brooklyn, N.Y. They moved to Morgan Hill in 1974 and raised four children there.
Raymers celebrate 60 years
Chalmer and Jacqueline Raymer celebrated 60 years of marriage with family and friends at their home in San Juan Bautista. At the celebration, Anthony Botelho, vice chairman of the San Benito County Board of Supervisors, presented the couple with a proclamation honoring their 60th wedding anniversary and their many contributions to the community.
The couple was married Aug. 2, 1948.

HONORS
Stephanie Smith
Stephanie Smith, a 2004 graduate of Gilroy High School was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in the U.S. Army on May 1, and completed the four-week, Warrior Leader Course on June 18.
She is stationed in Illesheim, Germany with the 2nd-159th Aviation Reconnaissance Battalion part of the 12th Combat Aviation Brigade. As a Supply Specialist, she is supporting her unit that is currently in Iraq for a 15-month deployment.
Stephanie joined the Army at 17 while still in high school. After graduation she attended basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C. and then completed her advanced specialty training at Fort Lee, Va. Over the last four years, she has been stationed at two different posts in southern Germany.
Nicholas Allen
On July 2, 2008, USAF 1st Lieutenant Nicholas Allen of Gilroy graduated from Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training, Helicopter, in Fort Rucker, Ala. Nick's family attended the ceremony and pinned Nick's wings on. The graduating class treated the attending family and friends to a helicopter ride in a decommissioned Huey. During the last six months, Nick has been learning to fly the UH-1H Huey. He will now go to Albuquerque, N.M. to master the UH-1N Twin Huey, then to SERE (Survive Evade Resist Escape) training in Washington State and then to a four-year assignment in Minot, N.D., where he will provide support to our nuclear missile silos and the security forces that protect them.
Jason Latham
Jason Latham, of Gilroy, has completed California Highway Patrol cadet training and has been assigned to duty at the CHP's South Los Angeles area office.
Officer Latham is a 2004 graduate of Gilroy High School. He earned an associate's degree from Hartnell College in Salinas and was an assistant manager at The Gap before joining the CHP.

Rebecca Ann Martinez
Rebecca Ann Martinez was born July 12, 2008 at Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital to Katrina Folsom and Frank Martinez of Hollister. She weighed 9 pounds, 3 ounces.
Gabriel Howard Horton
Gabriel Howard Horton was born July 6, 2008 at Pomerado Hospital to Anita Warren-Horton and Tim Horton of Escondido. He weighed 6 pounds, 14 ounces.
Juliana Michelle Soto
Juliana Michelle Soto was born June 11, 2008 at Kaiser, Santa Teresa to Benny and Melanie Soto of Gilroy. She weighed 6 pounds, 6 ounces.
