Bank robbery suspect arrested

May 8, 2008
 By Dispatch Staff

Morgan Hill police arrested two men in connection with a robbery in the parking lot of the downtown Bank America, police said.

About 11:23 a.m. Friday, a 16-year-old teen pushed a merchant who was carrying deposit bags into the bank, 7825 Monterey Street, according to Gilroy Sgt. Jim Gillio. The teen fled west on Second Street on foot.

About 90 minutes later, a Morgan Hill police officer pulled a vehicle over for unrelated violations, Gillio said. During the course of the stop, the officer noticed the teen and a 26-year-old acting 'Very nervous," Gillio said. The officer found the deposit bags and arrested Robert Arellano and teen on suspicion of robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery.

Additional details were not available at press time.
