A small grass fire adjacent to the 11th tee at Eagle Ridge Golf Club was quickly extinguished Tuesday afternoon, fire officials said.
Within eight minutes of receiving the 2:30 p.m. call, fire officials were working on putting out the flames that consumed about 300 square feet of ground cover and landscaping, Battalion Chief Phil King said. The response time would have been even shorter if the fire was easier to locate, he said.
The slow moving fire "really wasn't going anywhere," he said. Although several engines were dispatched, the first vehicle that arrived on scene managed to extinguish the flames.
The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation. King said the chances of the fire starting itself naturally in that location were "slim to none," although he preferred not to speculate without a complete investigation. The fire was small and resulted in no injuries or structure damages, King said.
