Dee'z Nutz topples Los Gigantes

GILROY - Dee'z Nutz outlasted Los Gigantes 15-11 Friday to win the second-half Men's BB League softball title at Las Animas Park.

Dee'z Nutz will play first-half winner Northbound in the best 2-of-3 Championship Series the week of July 14.

Los Gigantes raced to an 8-0 lead behinf a three-run home run from Noe DeLaTorre and a two-run triple from Nick Franco.

Rob Silvia keyed the Dee'z response with an RBI-single in the third, a solo homer in the fifth and three-run blast in the sixth.

Greg Lucio went 3-for-3 and scored three Nutz runs. Mitchell Reese fashioned three hits and scored three runs for Los Gigantes, the first-half VC champion.

Pacific Coast Bail Bonds captured the Co-Rec B League season crown Sunday with a 21-14 decision over Frank Vargas Taxes and Financing at Las Animas.

The victory gave the Bondsmen a 5-1 mark and the second-half title by one game over Vargas Taxes. Pacific Coast added the first-half title.

Rich Rodriquez went 4-for-4 with three RBI for the winners. Daniel Salinas added a home rum, two triples and a single, while Jimmy Palacios went 4-for-4, Richie Rodriquez 4-for-5. Mark Terrill drove in four Vargas Taxes runs with a triple and two singles.

California Overhead dropped a 12-11 decision to Humboldt Brewing Friday in Men's D League play at Christmas Hill Park.

The setback left Overhead, Walton & Sons Masonry and Gamers In Control tied for first with 4-2 marks. Walton & Sons will play Gamers at 7:40pm on Wed. July 9 at Las Animas. California Overhead will face the 7:40 winner at 8:50.

Dave Keim Sr. lashed three hits and scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Ed DeLeon went 5-for-5, Art Tomasetti 4-for-5 for California Overhead.

AJ Martinez hit two home runs and two doubles to pace Gamers In Control by Los Pistoleros 17-10. Ismael Velasquez hit a triple and three singles for Los Pistoleros.

VFW Bingo edged the Borrachos 6-5 Thursday to finish the second half of the Men's EE League with a 5-1 record at Christmas Hill.

Stephen Jeske went 3-for-3 and scored twice for VFW Bingo. Abraham Hernandez went 3-for-3 for the Borrachos.

The Assassins reached 4-1 with a 19-15 win over ConAgra. Mitch Panza homered and George Palacios went 4-for-4 and scored four Assassin runs. Ruben Huerta went 4-for-5 for ConAgra.

Richard Braquet's RBI-single in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the Good Ole Boys a 22-21 win over Heinzen Manufacturing.

David Tripathi homered and Jeff Speno and Don Haygood each roped three doubles for the Boys. Rudi Groppe managed six hits, John Jimenez five for Heinzen.

DS Builders dropped a chance at the second-half Men's C League title Monday with an 8-7 setback to Malibu Freezze.

The Builders fell to 4-2, one-half game ahead of 3-2 Bracco's Towing.

Brian O'Donoghue went 5-for-5, including an RBI-single in the fifth to provide the deciding Malibu run. Rodney Clore added three Malibu hits. Kyle Kretz mustered three hits for DS.

Pizza N' Stuff, prepping for the CC League's Championship Series, surprised Pro Electric 10-6 behind a 4-for-4 showing from Ryan Evanger. Dave Lujan Jr. went 3-for-4 with three Pizza RBI. Chendo Acevedo went 2-for-2 with two Electric RBI.
