Harvey's Body Shop stuffed by Pizza

Pizza N' Stuff captured the Men's CC League title Wednesday by completing a 2-0 sweep of the Championship Series with a 5-1 nod over Harvey's Body Shop at Las Animas Park.

Ryan Evanger plated Jarret Racz twice with a double and single the Pizza N' Stuff. Darren Newton paced the winners with a 3-for-3 effort. Taylor Micali went 3-for-4 for Harvey's.

Newton added a triple and two singles as Pizza N' Stuff took the best 2-of-3 series opener 15-4. Eddie Vargas collected a double and two singles for Harvey's.

The Mean Girlz outlasted Draeger Construction 7-4 Wednesday to complete a sweep of the Women's series at Christmas Hill Park. Missy Howe lashed a single and double for the winners. Elena Ayala scored three Mean runs. Joyce Ybarra went 2-for-2 for Draeger.

Michelle Barry hit two RBI-singles to help the Mean Girlz to a 9-2 victory in the opener. Vicki Velasquez and Angelica Garcia hit consecutive RBI-singles for Draeger.

Art Tomasetti and Albert Ramirez each drove in two runs with hits in a seven-run fourth inning as California Overhead stopped the VFW Vets 9-6 Wednesday at Las Animas in Men's D play. Rick Trujillo scored three runs as Overhead tied the series, forcing a third game Friday at 7:40pm at Christmas Hill. Danny Melendez homered for the Vets.

California Overhead scored nine runs in the top of the first inning in Tuesday's opener, then dropped a 12-9 decision. Joe Cano hit a three-run home run for the Vets. Melendez and Robert Armendariz each scored three runs.

Team Strike took the Co-Rec C series in two games, finishing Wednesday at Las Animas with a 29-6 win over Team HJ-FX. Missy Howe went 4-for-4 with a sacrifice fly for Strike. Tony Martinez homered and Skip Bloom tripled and singled for HJ-FX. Lopez hit an RBI-triple in Monday's 8-0 win by Strike.

Northbound defeated Dee'z Nutz 4-1 Tuesday to leave the Men's BB series at 1-1 entering Friday's finale at 8:50pm at Christmas Hill.

Ralphie Martinez scored two Northbound runs. Henry Huerta singled and scored the Dee'z marker. Willie Gamboa's three-run homer on Monday keyed a 14-10 Dee'z win in the opener.

Bracco's Towing defeated Los Gigantes 27-12 Tuesday to finish the Men's C series 2-0 at Las Animas. Danny Rubalcava hit two homers and Danny Banderas homered in a 5-for-5 night for Bracco's. Jose Melendrez Sr. homered in a 3-for-4 night for Los Gigantes. Banderas singled and scored on an error in the bottom of the seventh Monday to lift Bracco's past Los Gigantes 2-1.

Art Mancera went 2-for-3 with three RBI as Team Wicked opened the Men's DD series with an 11-6 win over the Players. Joe Ojeda homered for the Players.

Mike Stevens singled and scored on a Vinnie Randazzo sacrifice fly as VFW Bingo topped Claddagh Brew Crew 15-14 in eight innings in the Men's EE opener. Greg Sosebee went 4-for-4 and scored four Crew runs.

Chippendales trimmed Walton & Sons Masonry 9-7 in the Men's E opener. Anthony Trefielo went 3-for-4 for the winners.
