Morgan Hill – For six years in a row, the second Saturday in May has been time for Morgan Hill kids to “Dress for Mess” and gather at the Community Center for a day of art, entertainment and a few good safety lessons.

Art a la Carte and Children’s Safety Faire rides into town this Saturday, May 14, designed as a fun and interactive day of art projects for children, from infants to 11 years old.

Called “Wild About Art in the Jungle,” the 2005 Art a la Carte features art projects with jungle themes. More than 15 art stations with different projects will pique interests with a chance to make safari hats, extreme digital art, jungle drums, a warrior necklace and monkey mania.

Quimbanda, an Africa-Brazilian drumming and dancing production, is scheduled to entertain at 12:15pm, and Sweet Harmony, a children’s vocal group under the direction of Shara Jones, will take the stage at 1:15pm. Both groups perform in the center’s outdoor amphitheater.

The Morgan Hill Police Department will hold its Children’s Safety Fair, Ident-a-child and the Bicycle Trails Advisory Committee sponsor a bike rodeo. Children will also be able to explore the always-popular Santa Clara County Fire Truck.

Art a la Carte is free on Saturday, May 14, 11am-3pm at the Morgan Hill Community Center, 17000 Monterey Road at Dunne Avenue.
