marijuana.
Morgan Hill – The victim of a stabbing at a Morgan Hill motel told police the suspect stabbed him after a disagreement over the purchase of marijuana.
According to a statement made by Scott Bargar, 24, of San Martin, he is a “Cannabis Club member,” Morgan Hill Police Lt. Joe Sampson said Thursday, who was “looking for a way to purchase cannabis for whatever (medical) condition he has.” The intended purchase, was set up though “a friend of a friend of a friend,” Sampson added.
The meeting took place Jan. 29 in a room at the Extended Stay motel on Jarvis Drive behind Cochrane Plaza shopping center in north Morgan Hill. Police became involved when a motel staff member reported a large pool of blood in one of the rooms and a trail of blood leading from the room down the hallway to the parking lot.
They were notified that Bargar was in critical condition at Kaiser hospital in San Jose with stab wounds to the neck. He has since been released.
Anthony Aguilera, 20, of Gilroy, who apparently suffered minor cuts in the altercation with Bargar, was arrested several hours later after a lengthy chase involving the Gilroy Police Department, MHPD and assistance from San Jose Police.
Monique Zamaripa, 22, and Cassandra Arciniega, 20, both of Gilroy, also were arrested as a result of the chase.
Aguilera is in county jail without bail. He was arraigned on Feb. 2 on charges of felony attempted murder, two felony charges of assault with a deadly weapon, willfully or maliciously discharging a firearm and possession of alcohol by a minor in public. He initially was booked on three felony charges, including one count of attempted murder, involving unrelated Gilroy cases. Police suspect Aguilera of being involved in three recent incidents: The stabbing of a pedestrian on Princevalle Street on Nov. 7; the shooting of a 22-year-old man in his car on Church Street Oct. 23; and a stabbing at Tenth and Rosanna streets in July.
Aguilera is scheduled to enter a plea for the most recent incident Tuesday. Zamaripa and Arciniega were released from jail after 48 hours, Zamaripa on $50,000 bail.
