Can’t Yell ‘Fire’ in Crowded Theater or Hide Violence

Behind Religious Freedom

Dear Editor,

With each of our freedoms comes moral responsibilities to make matters truly just and peaceful.

The Constitution grants us great freedoms, trying to use them justly requires conscientious thought and action. I cannot cry “fire” in a crowded theater. That is not freedom of speech.

Similarly, to practice violence (or other immorality) in the name of freedom of religion is not allowed. We must not step on rights of any other person.

Morality comes first doesn’t it? It is the responsibility side to balance each freedom.

California State Law that Would Mandate Neutering Your Pet a Complete Farce

Dear Editor,

Finally, people of good sense are standing up to this atrocity of a bill – AB1634.

Thank you for printing Dr. Keesling’s article on AB1634 and thank you to Dr. Keesling for having the courage to stand up to the Animal Rights people and their activities of trying to take away our pets and animals!

I do not live in California but bills like AB1634 are springing up all over the nation. Everywhere, people are waking up to the fact that these laws are not in their best interest or in the best interest of their animal(s).

God Speed to those in the fight against it.

‘Feckless, Fraudulent, Fearful, Foolish Fiascos’ Disguised as Opinion

Dear Editor,

Now comes another Gilroy Intolerant – David Garcia (letters, June 15) – sending forth his nonsensical judgments of self-perceived wrathful self-righteousness. Gather, all Gilroyans, and hear again the ranting of the self-proclaimed judge of all.

He cries: 1) “Independents, Libertarians and Democrats will crush the Republicans once and for all, and it’s about time too!” Ohhhh? How? Are you implying Mr. Garcia, those political parties are conspiring as one to rid this nation of the Republican Party? If so, where will Party members go?

2) As a true martyr, he bravely whines “You can dislike me all you want …” I’m sure the vast majority of Gilroy residents who read your chaotic and irresponsible rantings, or hear you in person, will very easily dislike you – if they took your communication efforts seriously.

3) He sobs “… Opinions by Kaeini, Fennel and others are nothing more than lies, contradictions, distortions, and a total hypocrite position that doesn’t help anyone.” How are you helping when you so self-righteously accuse without thought, Mr. Garcia? Support your opinions with facts/examples. Without specific “proof” you’re nothing more than a loud noise within a vacuum.

4) He boasts “…The Democrats have a stronger field of presidential candidates, and at least their party is united and firm.” Don’t contradict yourself, Mr. Garcia. If the Democratic Party were “united and firm” why would there be any “field of presidential candidates?”

5) He coughs “… Republicans … are weaker than you think. There is too much division in their party and scandal.” Weaker? As compared to what? Again, if you’re going to make your typical intolerant statement, provide facts/statistics/quotes to show others who might share your arrogant absurdities.

6) Garcia pompously proclaims “Republicans don’t like poor people, blacks, Hispanics, the middle class or homosexuals.” Is that their limit? Do you claim not one Democrat ever “(doesn’t) like poor people, blacks, Hispanics, the middle class or homosexuals?”

You agree, then, Republicans DO like juvenile crime, cigarette production and sale, flouridated water, the homeless, the Palestinian jihad … and an unending list of local, national and international daily slices of life? Don’t put political organizations or individuals into little boxes of your blind self-righteousness, Mr. Garcia. You’re not America’s moral judge, jury and enforcer.

7) He whimpers “… the right wing only cares about the right wing and not the people of this country.” Does this imply the left wing is the only political side concerned and caring about all America’s problems, Mr. Garcia? Are you truly that myopic and mindless?

8) He ends his insidious, inane an near-incoherent ramble saying six learned, distinguished, thoughtful, insightful, and caring Gilroy residents, myself included, and Rush Limbaugh (I don’t think he’s a Gilroy resident) “… are a bunch of losers.” Of what? One more time, Mr. Garcia, and read these words carefully: Support your judgmental statements with facts, not the feckless, fraudluent, fearful, foolish fiascos you consider thought.
