The Minors American League Yankees made it all the way to the final four of the Minors (AAA) TOC tournament in Santa Cruz by knocking off Watsonville National League (13-3, four innings), Watsonville American (14-0, four innings) and the Gilroy Minors National League Giants (12-8). But the Yankees fell in their Final Four opener to San Lorenzo Valley, 7-5, for their first loss in the double-elimination tournament. The Yankees play their next game Thursday at 6pm. If they win, they play San Lorenzo Valley again with the winner heading to the championship game. If they lose, the Yankees take home third place.

The Minors National League Giants finished in a tie for fifth after a 15-5 loss to Salispuedes. Before that loss, the Giants had beaten Live Oak 7-5 and Santa Cruz National League 25-14 in four innings before falling to the Yankees on Saturday in the third round.

In the Majors TOC in Aptos, the National League Giants lost 4-1 to Aptos in the opening round and dropped into the losers’ bracket. The American League A’s beat Salispuedes in the opening round 9-0, but fell to San Juan Aromas 5-2 in the second round. The A’s loss put them in the losers’ bracket as well, where they were matched up with the Giants. In an all-Gilroy battle Friday, the Giants upended the A’s 7-2, knocking the A’s out of the tournament with a ninth-place finish. But the Giants’ glory would be short lived. Santa Cruz American League knocked them out of the tournament with a 9-2 win Saturday. The Giants took seventh place.
