Somewhere in between long hikes in the San Gabriel Mountains (“Eric, I think we should turn back now”) and camping in the desert (“The rattlesnakes won’t actually chase you”), photographer Ramona Rosales, of Long Beach, and artist Eric Merrell, of Gilroy, decided that they both loved Spanish food, wine and each other.

The bright-eyed couple exchanged vows at the Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park in Carlsbad along with their families, friends and a host of peafowl. Their two cats were unable to attend.
