San Martin man arrested in relation to San Jose armed robbery

Oscar Sencion

At 7:48 a.m. Thursday, San Jose police responded to a silent alarm at California Check Cashing Store in the 2100 block of Story Road in
East San Jose, according to SJPD Sgt. Jason Dwyer. The lone female victim was arriving for work when the lone male suspect – later identified as Oscar Sencion, 21 of San Jose – approached her from behind, forced her into the store and locked the doors behind them.
The suspect brandished a firearm and demanded money, Dwyer said. The suspect abandoned the robbery attempt and fled when an alarm sounded. Since the doors were locked, he fired several rounds through a side window and escaped.
The suspect fled into a nearby neighborhood, police said. The SJPD SWAT team and K-9 units responded and conducted a search for the suspect, who was located in a yard in the 2000 block of Cinderella Drive.
Sencion was apprehended with the use of a police canine, Dwyer said. The suspect suffered dog bites to his lower extremities. He was treated at Regional Medical Center and released.
Sencion was booked on suspicion of false imprisonment, robbery, probation violation, and several firearms violations, police said.
