Police Blotter: Stolen Cars, Drunk in Public and Shoplifting

August 29

3:26 a.m.: A car ran into a guardrail on Hecker Pass and the driver fled. The 1999 grey Toyota Corolla was impounded.

5 a.m.: A 22-year-old man was arrested on Camino Arroyo for being under the influence of marijuana and not being able to take care of himself.


7 a.m.: A 1995 Honda Accord was stolen overnight on Second Street.

9:15 a.m.: An injured deer was reported on Hecker Pass near the golf course. It was humanely dispatched.

12:26 p.m.: Someone stole 10 watches valued at $1,000 from the Columbia Sportswear store on San Ysidro Avenue.

3:20 p.m.: A student was jumped by two suspects on Dowdy Street. They stole his belt. They are believed to have previously stolen two other Fendi and Ferragamo belts valued at $23.

7:59 p.m.: A car’s window was smashed and a woman’s grey Michael Kors purse and Coach wallet were stolen on Monterey Street.

9:03 p.m.: A car’s window was smashed on Arroyo Circle and a new $700 iPhone was stolen.

August 30

7:28 a.m.: A red 1996 Saturn SL-2 was stolen overnight on Stoney Court.

7:44 p.m.: A man and woman were in a fight on Monterey Street. The woman said the man punched her in the face six times and fled before police arrived. Both have restraining orders against them. The case was referred to the district attorney.

11:45 p.m. A 44-year-old man was found passed out in his own urine on the 800 block of First Street.

August 31

1:25 a.m.: A mother and her 24-year-old daughter got in a fight in their Chestnut street apartment. The mother said the daughter hit her in the back of the head and wanted her arrested. She was.

8 a.m.: A blue 1997 Accura was stolen overnight on Forest Street.

9:47 a.m.: A 53-year-old man was arrested for being under the influence of methamphetamine on Chestnut Street.

11:30 a.m.: A bag of 6.1 grams of methamphetamine was found on Hanna Street.

3:48 p.m.: A 23-year-old man was arrested for trying to buy jewelry at the Outlets with forged gift cards.

6:55: A man was arrested at the U.S. Bank at Safeway on First Street for trying to cash a stolen check. Police found property belonging to other victims in his bag.

September 1

7 a.m.: Someone broke into an La Alondra Way house overnight through an unlocked sliding glass door and stole four boxes with 200 comic books valued at $1000.

7 a.m.: Someone stole a green 1998 Acura from a parking spot on Old Gilroy Road overnight.

1:15 p.m.: Someone broke into a home on Alexander Street between 8 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. and stole a bottle of Perry Ellis cologne valued at $40, five cans of beer and a bag of donuts and two bags of recycling from the kitchen.

10:15 p.m.: Someone broke the back window of a PT Cruiser on Church Street, but ran off when the owner came out.

Overnight: Someone pried open the door of a Monterey Street business and stole $400 of lingerie.

September 2

1:07: A man was handcuffed when his dog went out of control on Church Street and bit an officer on the arm.

7:37 a.m.: Someone left a leather jacket and a cardboard cutout with a message for the police chief at police headquarters on Hanna Street.

3:15 p.m.:A thief broke into a 2016 Jeep Patriot between 1 and 3 p.m. on Arroyo Circle, stealing a briefcase with $6,000 cash, a $1,500 Dell laptop and a Brazilian passport.

9:16 p.m.: Two men in a black Dodge Caravan van stole two bottles of Jameson’s whiskey worth $239 and $289 from a store on First Street.

September 3

8:06 a.m.: A man was arrested sleeping in the street on La Primavera Way and found to be too intoxicated to care for himself.
