Time to fire up the pit and ready the barbecue sauce, Morgan Hill's third annual “No Bull BBQ” Cook-Off championship is around the corner. 

10-year-old on bike struck by car, suffers severe injuries

A 10-year-old Gilroy girl suffered severe injuries after she was hit by car while riding her bike on Westwood Drive near First Street around 6:30 p.m. Saturday. She was not wearing a helmet.

Jesse Molina Garcia July 18, 1944 – April 27, 2012

Jesse Garcia passed from this life on April 27, 2012 shortly after being diagnosed with cancer. He was preceded in death by his father Pablo Garcia, sister Stella Nunez, and brother David.

Donald S. Thome April 2, 1920 – April 29, 2012

Don was born in Capay, CA and grew up in Aromas where in high school he met Bertha Gotterba. Don and Bertha fell in love, married in May 1941 and were happily together for 71 years.

Julia Gamez Starling December 19, 1933 – April 26, 2012

Julia G. Starling passed away peacefully at her home. She is survived by her children Yolanda Lara, Julie Lara and John (Kendra) Starling, and also her grandchildren Tony Flores, Miguel Flores, Erik Higuera, and Caitlyn Starling.

Maria Gomez October 5, 1924 – April 28, 2012

Maria Gomez passed away in Hollister at the age of 87. She was born in Guasti, CA and lived in Hollister for many years returning in 1970.

Adela Castaneda-Ruiz December 16, 1925 – April 25, 2012

 Adela Castaneda-Ruiz, 86 years old, passed away on April 25, 2012 at her residence in Gilroy. She is survived by her sons and their wives, Ruben (Sofie) Acosta, Mike Acosta, Jr., Joe (Jessica) Acosta, Conrado (Irvina) Acosta, Armando (Nilda) Acosta and Ronnie Acosta. She will be missed by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a brother and two sisters.
