REC SOFTBALL: Rain didn’t disrupt all games last week
Hard Ninety rolled to a 2-0 record in the Men's C Softball League standings Thursday with a 17-1 decision over Team Talamo at Christmas Hill Park.

Frank A. Messina August 21, 1929 – March 30, 2012
Frank A. Messina passed away at his Hollister home at the age of 82. He was born in San Jose and lived in Hollister since 1971. He served in the US Army and was a member of Sacred Heart/St. Benedict’s Church. He worked as a plumber and farmer, forklift driver, worked for Denice and Felice and worked until he was 80 years old.
Online vigil encouraged for Sierra LaMar
The KlaasKids Foundation is asking users of social media Internet sites to participate in a 24-hour online vigil for Sierra LaMar, the Sobrato High School sophomore who has been missing from her north Morgan Hill home for 17 days.
Sprina M. Bozzo May 1, 1914 – March 30, 2012
In loving memory of our beloved Auntie Sprina Bozzo, who passed away at the Mabie Skilled Nursing Facility, one month before her 98th birthday. She was a lifelong resident of Hollister and a member of many organizations over the years, such as Young Lady’s Institute for 50 years, Italian Catholic Federation, Branch #26, the Sacred Heart Parish Choir for 50 years, and various Pedro clubs.
Barbara Matulich November 17, 1939 – March 30, 2012
Barbara Matulich, age 82, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, March 30, 2012. Barbara was born in Salinas, CA on November 17, 1929 to Russell and Bertsie Kretz. She married the late Tony Matulich in 1947, and they lived together in Hollister, CA.
Runners enjoy blustery 29th Wildflower Run
In the end it wasn’t rain 825 runners had to deal with during Sunday’s 29th Wildflower Run, but a frigid, 35 mph wind.

Andrew “Andy” Hassler passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 27th, 2012 at the age of 44 years. He is survived by his wife Sandra Bautista; children Kassandra and David Reyes, Ruben and Charolette Alnas; his grandchildren Aaliyah Flores and Andrew (Boy) Flores and one soon to be born granddaughter; his siblings John Wade Hassler Jr. (Monica), William (Nancy), Peter (Rebecca), Molly and Sarah; five nieces and six nephews.
