Young Artists Poster Contest winners named
At the May 21 Gilroy City Council meeting, young artists who received Judges Favorite Awards for their participation in the 2012 Young Artists Poster Contest received ribbons and prizes for their entries. The theme of this year’s contest was “Be a Friend … Put a STOP to Bullying!” A total of 79 entries were received and 16 were chosen as judges favorites, with an additional three posters designated to be professionally printed and distributed throughout City of Gilroy and school district facilities.
Celebrating 79 years of drive-in theater enjoyment
On June 6, the drive-in theater will celebrate its 79th birthday. Yeah, I know. Most people don’t care and there aren’t many drive ins still around. Honestly? That’s a shame. I love the drive in. And I’m sure I’m not alone in my fondness for outdoor movie theaters … right?

BASEBALL: Christopher High’s Wilson, Pickens and Cid voted MBL first team
Connected in the batting lineup and on the field in their positions, lead-off hitter and third baseman Brennan Wilson, second baseman and two-hole hitter Brandon Pickens and shortstop and third-place hitter Bryant Cid are now tied together as a trio of Monterey Bay League first team selections for the Christopher High varsity baseball team.

POTW: Toby
