County animal shelter nets $115,000 award

The County of Santa Clara Animal Care and Control recently received a $115,000 award that will go towards the continued prevention of euthanizing healthy animals.

Gender differences defy description

When our grandson Charlie came along in late 2009, he was the first boy born into our family in more than 50 years. Granted, we have a smallish family, but two daughters, followed by two granddaughters, entrenched us forever into the world of Barbies and BFFs. So you might empathize with our recent discovery that boys are a whole different animal.

Gavilan College lockdown ends following felony arrest

The Gavilan College Campus, located at 5055 Santa Teresa Boulevard in Gilroy, was on lockdown this morning around 9:10 a.m. following a car pursuit that resulted in a felony arrest.

Gavilan men's soccer head coach Justin Johnson called the Rams 2-0 victory over Coast Conference opponent Evergreen on Tuesday “really big.” Johnson needed only to point to last year's meeting between the two schools for one reason to explain why - Gavilan lost that one 7-0.
