Softball: Mustangs win season opener, 4-0

Winning pitcher Lauren Castro pitched five scoreless innings, and Kaylana Mah and Anna Gamboa had two hits each to help Gilroy High’s softball team open the season with a 4-0 home win over Santa Teresa on Wednesday.

Soccer: Sacred Heart Prep ends magical run for GHS boys, 1-0

Brendan Spillane scored in the first half to lead Sacred Heart Prep’s boys soccer team to a 1-0 win over Gilroy High in the semifinals of the Central Coast Section Division III playoffs Wednesday night at Garcia-Elder Sports Complex.

New biopsy procedure at Saint Louise

Saint Louise Regional Hospital, located at 9300 No Name Uno Road in Gilroy is now offering women a minimally invasive procedure if a breast biopsy is required. The new method utilizes ultrasound or stereotactic x-ray imaging along with a probe that is inserted through a small incision in the patient's skin.
