The Santa Clara County Farm Bureau is hosting two agricultural education events for local teachers this spring. The kickoff event is a teacher appreciation mixer at Guglielmo Winery on Wednesday, March 26. The mixer will feature hosted wine, appetizers, and raffle prizes and is designed to introduce teachers to ag education. A workshop for teachers will be held Saturday, April 26 in Morgan Hill. The workshop will acquaint teachers with available ag education resources and will show teachers how to incorporate agricultural education into their curriculum. A Rosary will be held at Habing Family Funeral Home on March 27th at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on March 28th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church with Entombment to follow at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park in Gilroy.
The General Plan Advisory Committee, tasked with revamping Gilroy’s vision and guiding principles over the next two decades through the General Plan, will be holding a public workshop April 2. Members of the public who participate will have a chance to share their own ideas about Gilroy’s future with City officials at 6:30 p.m. at Eliot Elementary School.
City Council has scheduled a special meeting next week and the items on the agenda will be closed to the public, as they involve union contract negotiations.
At least a dozen attendees in Gilroy held up signs reading “Re$pect,” “Good faith bargaining” and “We make a difference” during a March 20 school board meeting as they demanded trustees take a look at contract negotiations for paraprofessionals this school year.
