Instead of tapping on front doors, volunteers for a countywide census traversed alleyways, backstreets, parking lots and the woods of Gilroy Tuesday in search of those who try to be invisible—the homeless.
Firefighters have contained a residential fire that sparked just after noon Thursday in a home on the 2000 block of Pacheco Pass in Gilroy, CalFire Battalion Chief Jim Crawford said.

As you walk up to Castillo Hillside Shire Winery, the scenery seems almost unreal. You’ll notice a large pond to your right, named Vivienne’s Lagoon, after the owners’ daughter. You’ll pass an old barn that’s been converted into a guest home and finally you’ll arrive at a quaint little house fit for a Hollywood hobbit—this is the tasting room.
