Guest Column: Gilroy’s Changing Role in Silicon Valley

Six years ago, my wife and I decided to move to Gilroy from Morgan Hill, to raise our family. Gilroy attracted our young family because of its small town charm, open spaces, the strong park and recreation program, and most importantly, a great public school system for our children.

Gilroy protests as city council puts immigration, human rights on the agenda

As protests sprung up in airports across the nation last weekend in response to President Donald Trump’s latest executive action targeting refugees and immigrants from seven majority Muslim countries, a group of about 30 Gilroyans took to the street on Sunday to show their solidarity.

Leslie Franklin Sans March 14, 1946 – January 23, 2017

Dr. Shuichi Sato passed away peacefully on January 10th, 2017 at his home in Gilroy, CA. He leaves a legacy of being an innovator and inventor in the semiconductor world.

James Edward Link December 22, 1946 – January 19, 2017

James Edward Link, 70 of Mariposa passed away Thursday, January 19th peacefully with his family by his side at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto. Jim was born in San Francisco on December 22, 1946.

Glenna L. Steward July 17, 1933 – January 29, 2017

Glenna is survived by her brother Larry Richardson her five children Kim Montarbo, Terrie Trasport, Doyal Steward, Kellie Pena and Jill Olmstead. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Services on February 4th at 12:00 P.M. at Morgan Hill Bible Church located at 15055 Monterey Rd. Morgan Hill.

Josephine Moreno December 28, 1921 – January 27, 2017

Josephine Moreno of San Martin, CA passed away peacefully  Friday morning on January 27th in her home. She was born Josephine Martin in Santa Clara, CA. She just had celebrated her 95th Birthday on December 28, 2016.
