Police do not believe incident is related to staged protests
against illegal immigration bill
Gilroy – After the final bell at Gilroy High School, a fight broke out between two groups of students and non-students Tuesday afternoon. According to police, at one point rocks were thrown and a few individuals were arrested.
Police do not believe the fights are connected to a protest that about 100 GHS students staged during lunch in opposition of a proposed federal law that would turn illegal immigrants into felons.
As of press time, the motive and exact number of individuals arrested in the fights was unknown, however, the figure is likely between one and two, police said.
Five GHS students were arrested during the protest for blocking the roadways and resisting arrest.
