Firefighters tamed a two-alarm fire at 6791 Alexander St., alongside the railroad tracks and Soares Lumber. The blaze began at 5:53pm Wednesday at a homeless encampment along the tracks, destroyed the camp and spread to 10 stored vehicles. One homeless person was injured and taken to Saint Louise Regional Hospital. By 6:10pm, firefighters from Gilroy Fire Department,

California Department of Forestry and South Santa Clara Fire Protection District had controlled the flames.

Monterey Road was temporarily closed to traffic.
