Markets robbed
A store clerk was shot in the leg during the first of two armed robberies Saturday night that occurred within about 10 minutes of each other. Police are still searching for the armed gunman who may be linked to both robberies. I
GPD Explorers
They are the next wave of law enforcement officials. Some will work patrol, some will become dispatchers and jailers. Others will head to law school, and still some will become detectives. They are members of the Gilroy Police Department’s Explorer program and they are patrolling streets near you.

But for now, you’ll have to flip through the phone book if you want a few minutes with newly elected City Council members Peter Arellano or Dion Bracco, whose pictures and contact information are not yet available online. The online landscape for basic information about local government – everything from e-mail addresses for elected officials to phone numbers for the public works department – varies wildly across local agencies.
