Imler one year later

Staff from the school purchased the bench in honor of the former principal.
A longtime principal and assistant principal in Gilroy Unified School District, Imler served 30 years as head of Gilroy High School, Brownell Fundamental School and Luigi Aprea Elementary.
He died in Aug. 2005 at his Discovery Bay home after a three-year battle with cancer.
Services set for 10-month-old, account established
Gilroy – Services for a 10-month-old boy who died Aug. 24 will be held Wednesday, with the viewing from 9am to 11am at Johnson Funeral Home in Morgan Hill. The service will be at 11am. Burial will follow at Gavilan Hills Cemetery in Gilroy.
Meanwhile, the family of Cuahntemo Rocha is asking for donations to help cover funeral costs. Rocha died of unknown causes while being treated at Saint Louise Regional Hospital.
He leaves behind his mother and father Denise Castro and Max Rocha and four older siblings ranging from 7 to 3 years old.

Perchlorate advisory group meets Thursday
San Martin – The Perchlorate Community Advisory Group, or PCAG, from 7 to 9pm Thursday, at the San Martin Lion Club Hall, 425 Murphy Ave.

Madden tournament benefits Rebekah’s
Gilroy – Play Madden NFL ’07, with proceeds going to Rebekah Children’s Services in Gilroy. The event takes place beginning at 5pm, Thursday at the store, 7011 Camino Arroyo.
The tournament is open to anyone 16 years of age or older, though those 16 to17 need parents’ signatures to play. Cost to participate is $8.
Best Buy is sponsoring the event and will be providing prizes for first, second, and third place.

Car wash benefits Chaos softball team
Gilroy – Support the Gilroy Chaos Sports Organization Girl’s Fast Pitch Softball team, to get to the 2006 Fall Classic Tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada.
They will be holding a car wash from 8am to 4pm Sept. 2 at Jim’s Auto, 298 First St. The cost is $5 for small cars and $10 for trucks, vans and SUVs. Any other donations are greatly appreciated.
