Gilroy – The Hit Men improved to 3-0 in the second half of Men’s CCC League adult softball play Wednesday with an 8-3 nod over the Desperados at Christmas Hill Park.

Henry Quistian laced a two-run home run as the Hit Men grabbed a 3-0 lead after one frame. Justin Tandy and Steve Garrido each hit safely and scored in the second for the Desperados, but the Hit Men responded with a four-run fourth. Four consecutive hits to open the fourth gave the Hit Men the 7-2 margin. Ernie Badillo capped the rally with a two-run double.

Justin Hyer singled and scored on Phil Clark triple to complete the Desperados scoring in the fifth. Kurt Maltman singled and scored in the fifth for the winners.

Tandy led all batters with three hits.

South Valley Plumbing-Elam Trucking kept pace with the Hit Men by topping VFW Vets 23-13. The Hit Men and South Valley-Elam collide Wednesday at 6:30pm at Christmas Hill to break the tie atop the six-team standings.

Randy Evanger posted five hits to help South Valley-Elam to a 3-0 mark. Duke Newton added four hits and scored six runs for the winners. Danny Melendez and Freddy Espinosa each homered for the Vets. Cody Wilson struck for five extra-base hits for VFW.

Danny Rubalcava launched two home runs to pace Sticky Fingers to an 18-8 win over Kenko Utility.

Wesley Arias went 3-for-3 and scored three runs for the 1-2 Fingers. Sal Preciado scored three Finger runs. Dave Dover hit a single and triple, scoring twice for Kneko Utility. Chris Masias went 2-for-4 and scored twice.

WoMen’s C

Goldsmith Seeds turned back Image & Design Spa & Day Salon-Guy’s Heating 10-7 to leave a two-way tie for first place in the Women’s C League Wednesday at Las Animas Park.

Dora Olivarez went 3-for-3 and Antoinette Bowe stroked a double and two singles as Goldsmith reached 3-0 in second-half play. Nicole Villarreal went 3-for-4 as Image-Guy’s slipped to 2-1.

Farmers Insurance joined Goldsmith at 3-0 by defeating Fidelity Funding Solutions 19-8.

Maureen Duggan and Marcella Castro each hit a two-run single as Fidelity Funding posted five runs in the top of the first inning. Farmers responded with a seven-run first, led by a two-run single from Nicole Lara.

Anita Garza went 4-for-4 and scored four runs for Farmers Insurance. Jessica Gomez added three singles to the Farmers attack. Duggan powered a three-run home run in the Fidelity second stanza.

Laura Hagiperos hit for the cycle, going 6-for-6 with 11 RBI in a 36-9 M&M’s victory over Longhouse Restaurant.

Sandy Saenz hit safely six times and scored six M&M’s runs. Vicky Johnson scored five runs. Vanessa Gomez went 3-for-4 for Longhouse.
