Dear Editor,

I would like to address the letter written by Jacqui Holladay which was printed in the April 18 edition of the Dispatch. First of all, I’m confused as to the heading of her article “Shameful Attempt to Unveil Anti-Gay Bigotry.” Where did you ever find any inference to this from Reymundo Juan Armendariz‚ letter? I re-read his letter and all I can come up with is his concern about “American rights,” of course, reading his letter through the eyes of an indigenous person, I see this in a different perspective. If my roots were from across the ocean and had my ancestors taken over “America” through lies and force and by illegal tactics, I guess I would feel like you and all other euro-Americans who are offended by letters that spell out the truth.

My people don’t come to American to become Americans. When they get here they are already “Americans” and are “returnees” not illegal.

Flor Molina, Gilroy
