Winter Concert tonight and Thursday, Dec. 18, in the Gilroy High
School theater.
Seating will begin at 7:10 and the performance will commence at
7:30 p.m. both evenings.

GILROY – The Gilroy High School Choirs will be presenting their annual Winter Concert tonight and Thursday, Dec. 18, in the Gilroy High School theater.
Seating will begin at 7:10 and the performance will commence at 7:30 p.m. both evenings.
The Men’s Chorus, Women’s Chorus, Concert Choir, Concerto Delle Donne and the Chamber Singers will be performing. Tickets for the concert are $5 and may be reserved in advance, purchased at the door or at Porcella’s Music, 7357 Monterey Road. Tickets or details: 847-2424 ext. 2288.
St. Mary presents Christmas play
GILROY – St. Mary Church, 11 First St., presents “Three and one-half Stories of Christmas,” tonight at 7. For the first time, all the parts of the Christmas story are tied together: from the manger in Bethlehem to the origin of Santa Claus.
Guest Frank Runyeon will make a special appearance. Runyeon has starred in more than 1,000 television shows including: “Santa Barbara,” “General Hospital,” “LA Law,” “Melrose Place” and played opposite Meg Ryan on “As The World Turns.” Great for the whole family. Details: 847-5151.
Board rescinds acceptance of grant
MORGAN HILL – Morgan Hill School District trustees on a 6-1 vote rescinded acceptance of a $500,000 federal grant to develop small learning communities at Live Oak High School. Board member Del Foster was the only board member to vote against rescinding the earlier vote.
The board had previously voted 4-3 to accept the grant.
Comment on Wal-Mart EIR
GILROY – The Wal-Mart EIR will be available for public review and comment through Jan. 22.
Interested parties can view a copy of this document at the Gilroy Public Library or borrow a copy from the City Planning Division (open Monday though Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.). Details: 846-0400.
Music in the courtyard
GILROY – The Acoustic Preservation Society will entertain guests at Old City Hall’s “Music in the courtyard,” on Saturday, Dec. 27, from 3 to 5 p.m. Old City Hall is located at 7400 Monterey St. Details: 846-8880.

Santa has announced his upcoming appearances in Gilroy. Santa will be at:
• San Ysidro Park today from 1:30 to 5 p.m.
• St. Mary’s School on Friday, Dec. 19, from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
• Ochoa Winter Center on Monday, Dec. 22 at 6 p.m.
• And Live Oak Adult Day Care on Tuesday, Dec. 23 at 1:30 p.m.
Santa and Mrs. Claus would be happy to see those smiling faces, so be sure to come and see them.
