Our staff and volunteers managed to cover a couple of key events in the city of Hollister this past month, and you cable subscribers will have the pleasure of viewing them on our channels! This week, CMAP presents the Hollister Veterans Parade on Channel 20 and the Hollister Lights On Parade on Channel 17.
The Veterans Parade, for those of you who didn’t attend, featured representatives of the Veterans Coalition of San Benito County, as well as several beautiful renditions of patriotic songs, sung by young people in the county. Kudos to our volunteer crew, and in particular Sarah Apodaca, who did a stellar job directing the three camera shoot! Go Sarah!
Speaking of Veterans… our Veteran Cameraman John Chadwell managed to squeeze another volunteer project into his busy schedule. John taped the Hollister Light on Parade a few weekends ago, and the multi-talented Sarah edited the piece here at CMAP. The parade includes some pretty spectacular floats, as well as holiday greetings from Council members, business owners and Hollister Downtown Association members alike. Kudos to Theresa Kiernan at the SBC Chamber who helped rally the troops to speak on camera. I think you have a future in producing or hosting, Theresa!
Catch the Veterans Parade on Channel 20 at 3 p.m on Saturday, and the Hollister Lights on Parade on Channel 17 at 8:30 p.m. Remember: our program schedules for all four channels are available on our Web site! www.mycmap.org
Another new program hitting the airwaves this week features the Director of the Gavilan Small Business Development Corporation, Rich Gillis. I’ll be interviewing him about the services the SBDC offers, including low to no cost workshops for small business owners and managers, as well as a mentoring program with business owners. The SBDC is taking on a brand new focus thanks to a healthy grant they received. Their new Bioscience focus will bridge the gap between high school and community college students, and the bioscience industry. Check out In Focus with SBDC Director Rich Gillis on Channel 20 on Sunday at noon and Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Suzanne St. John-Crane is the director of CMAP. She writes a regular column for publication in The Dispatch highlighting the news from our local television station.
