of 97 years.

She was a native of Mexico. She moved to Gilroy in 1944 from Texas and has been a resident ever since. She worked at Filice & Perelli Cannery for many years in the 1940s through 1960s. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Gilroy and active in the Gilroy Community Seniors.

She was the wife of the late Nicholas Romero (1985), mother of Elisa Ruiz, of Gilroy, Ernie Romero, of Arizona, and Nicholas Romero, of New Mexico; grandmother of Jesse (Stacey) Ruiz of San Jose, Robert (Julie) Ruiz, of Gilroy, and Michael (Janean) Ruiz, of Morgan Hill. Ernie Jr., Ruben, Rebecca and Olivia all, of Arizona; Kelly, Rosa, Tina and Nick Jr., all of New Mexico; great-grandmother of Jaclyn, Jennifer and Lauren Ruiz; David and Amanda Ruiz; Nathan and Meghan Ruiz; sister of Bridgett Espinoza and Socorro Juarez.

Rosary was Sunday evening at Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy. Funeral Services were at the funeral home this morning, and mass was at St. Mary’s Church Our Lady’s Chapel. Burial followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Gilroy.
