GILROY – Gilroy’s First Baptist Church in conjunction with the American Red Cross will hold a community blood drive on Wednesday, Feb. 26, from noon to 6 p.m. at the church, 8455 Wren Ave. Patients need blood 365 days a year and the American Red Cross relies on the generosity of regular donors to meet the ongoing, urgent need. In order to donate blood you must be 17 years of age or older, weight at least 110 pounds and be in general good health.

‘Sugar’ auditions

MORGAN HILL – Auditions for South Valley Civic Theatre’s production of “Sugar” – a musical version of “Some Like It Hot” – will be held on Friday, Feb. 28 (check in at 6:30 p.m.) and Saturday, March 1 (check in at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.) at the Maple Leaf RV Park, 15200 Monterey Highway. Be prepared to sing for no longer than one minute and bring sheet music, resume and a picture. Wear clothes and footwear suitable for dancing. They are looking for “tappers.” Rehearsals will be Monday through Thursday evenings beginning March 11. Performances will be May 16, 17, 23, 24, 25, 30, 31, June 1, 6 and 7. Young artists’ show

GILROY – The City of Gilroy Community Services Department is putting on an Exhibition of Local Talent, featuring the work of young artists 5 to 18 years of age. The show will take place at the Willey Cultural Center, 140 Fifth St. Entries are due the first week of March. For applications or information call 846-0460 or 848-0470.
