Kathryn Mary Tamura (Katy) died Feb. 13, 2003 at Stanford Hospital where she was awaiting a liver transplant.
Katy was a wife, mother, teacher and dear friend. She had a love of people, especially children that made everyone in her presence feel special. Katy is survived by her loving husband Irving and her children Kiersten and Parker and her stepchildren Jason and Ronnie. She is also survived by her parents Ronald and Virginia Lyson, her sister Betsy, brothers Ben and Joseph, and Mark, Cassie, Kaitlin and Kyle Perry. She is also survived by her life long friend Tammy Vickroy.
Katy was born in 1960 in San Francisco. She attended Valley Christian High School and graduated from Azusa Pacific University. She was a beloved teacher in our community for 20 years.
Funeral services will be held at South Valley Community Church in Gilroy at on Monday. at 1 p.m.. Those that wish are invited to bring a side dish or dessert as a barbeque will be held afterward on the campus of Morgan Hill Country School, 105 John Wilson Way Morgan Hill immediately following the service. Also, in honor of Katy’s personal “trademark” those that wish are asked to slip a number two pencil behind their right ear to honor Katy’s contribution to the community and her friends.
A trust fund has been established at Wells Fargo Bank, 17590 South Monterey Road, Morgan Hill, 95037 in the name of Kiersten and Parker Tamura. Katy will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her and loved her.
