• A study session on the design of the new police station. A rough draft of the city’s proposed capital improvement budget for next year suggests costs could rise to nearly $24 million. Officials said the possible increase – nearly a 25 percent increase over the original $19.2 million estimate – is reportedly due to rising costs in steel, sewage-line problems and other unforeseen expenses.
However, some City Councilmembers have said the price probably won’t rise that high, and officials have also noted that projected shortfalls in the city’s operating budget could possibly cause delays or other changes to capital projects.
• A public hearing on a tentative map request by Mission Valley Properties concerning a 29-lot residential subdivision at 8496 and 8530 Kern Ave.
• A request by Bay Colony Investors and Pinn Brothers to subdivide a 2.1-plus-acre property south of Sunrise Drive and north of Saddler Way into a 10-lot residential subdivision.
• A small-project exemption in the city’s growth-control law for an 11-lot subdivision at 8860 Kern Ave.
• Appointment of members to the Neighborhood District Task Force, which will advise the city on how to mix different types of housing in new development.
• A contest to design a city flag.
• A request by the California State Society Daughters of the American Colonists to place two historical markers in Gilroy.
• A report by the city’s Personnel Commission.
• An architectural and site review of a proposed Alzheimer’s assisted living facility at the Village Green project at Santa Teresa Boulevard and Hecker Pass Highway. The item may be rescheduled to a later date because of incomplete plans.
The study session begins at 6 p.m., with the regular meeting following at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at Gilroy City Hall, 7351 Rosanna St.
