GILROY – Do you want a shot at meeting Tiger Woods in person?
Four lucky amatuer golfers will this October at the national finals of the Buick Scramble – the largest amateur tournament in the country.
The Buick Scramble is a four-person scramble tournament where local teams make their way through local and sectional tournaments with a goal of playing in the national finals in Orlando, Florida and meeting Tiger Woods.
Gilroy Golf Course will once again be host for a local qualifier on June 29. The local event is open to any four-person teams with an established handicap and a minimum of one player must have that handicap established at Gilroy GC.
“This is by far the biggest thrill an amatuer golfer can have,” said Gilroy GC head PGA professional Don DeLorenzo, who has seen teams from the municipal links qualify for the national finals four out of the last six years.
“It’s a chance for the average 20-handicap golfer to be treated like a Tour player for a whole week,” he added. “It is without a doubt the most incredible week a golfer could ever have.”
The cost of the event is only $95 which includes;golf, cart, lunch, dozen golf balls and a $50 pro shop certificate.
