Say ‘I do’ to ‘I take this man’
GILROY – Pintello Comedy Theater presents “I Take This Man” this Friday and Saturday night, June 27 and June 28. “I Take This Man” stars Kirsten Francis Carr as Giddy Hollis who finds an unconscious man (Jayson Stebbins) at the finish line of the Boston Marathon and takes him home – to marry. Her roommates (Whitney Pintello McClelland and Steve Beck) can’t seem to discourage Giddy’s romantic imagination.

MACSA honors educators
GILROY – MACSA will hold its first South County Gala Fundraiser “Celebrating Culture Through Education” on Friday, June 27, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the IFDES Lodge, 250 Old Gilroy St. Join them to honor and celebrate community heroes in education. Enjoy a dinner, awards presentation and silent auction.
Colleen Wilcox, superintendent of schools, will be the keynote speaker. Honorary guest is Francisco Jiménez, nationally acclaimed author of “The Circuit Board” and “Breaking Through.” Seating is limited.

Putt with the pros
GILROY – The Rebekah Children’s Services Celebrity Golf Tournament will be held at Eagle Ridge on Monday, June 30, at 1 p.m. The $200 fee includes box lunch, green fees, golf cart, golf shirt, tee bag, refreshments on the course and a chance to golf with several 49er and Raider celebrities. Celebrity host is Tim Harris, former 49er Super Bowl XXIX team player. Proceeds will benefit the “Tech For Kids” program at Rebekah Children’s Services.

Last to the finish reeks
GILROY – The Reek Runs is scheduled for Saturday, July 12, at Gavilan College. The 10K race starts at 8 a.m. and the 5K run/walk starts at 8:15. Medals are awarded to the top three places in each division.

Soccer sign-up savings
GILROY – Sign-ups are being taken for fall soccer for Orchard Valley Youth Soccer League. The cost before Monday, June 30, is $95 per first and second, $60 for third and more players. GILROY – Learn how to get started the right way by participating in a class on Tuesday, July 1, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Gavilan College Small Business Development Center, 8351 Church St., Building E. The workshop will present an overview of marketing essentials, product selection, business goal setting, legal issues, licenses required, risk evaluation, bookkeeping, financing and management issues. Summer theater is groovy
GILROY – Room is still available for children to participate in STAR 2003. “Groovy” is a musical comedy tribute to the ’60s, which will be directed by Pepe Espinosa. This fun-filled summer program is presented by the Gavilan College Theatre Arts program for young people ages 8 to 15. Come and participate Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Partial scholarships are still available for Session 2 which is scheduled for Tuesday, July 22, to Saturday, Aug. 9, and costs $435. GILROY – Visit The Wize Owl on Saturday, June 28, for an informative seminar on safe and satisfying births lead by Henci Goer, award-winning medical writer for “Reader’s Digest” and “Childbirth Instructor Magazine” and certified Lamaze educator.
