GILROY – Odyssey Theatre Company and the Gilroy High School Theatre Department present “Smile and Nod” for an evening of improv comedy.

The show will take place at 8 p.m. today at the Gilroy High School Theater.

Tickets are $5 for students and $7 for adults, with proceeds going to the Odyssey Theatre Company Summer Conservatory, a six-week program designed to provide in-depth training in theater arts to young adults.

This year’s program will include a comedy improv show and a main stage production of Gorevidal’s “Romulas.”

The Odyssey Theatre Company Summer Conservatory is designed to provide in-depth training in theater arts to young adults between the ages of 12 and 18.

The last five Summer Conservatories have been considered a huge success for the theater company. The students performed a main stage production and an improv performance as The Odd Balls.

The conservatory holds classes in acting, design and stagecraft.

Odyssey Theatre Company was created in 1995 to increase knowledge, encourage appreciation, develop talent, and provide excellent theater experiences to the South County audience. Its programs include an apprenticeship spring drama. a summer conservatory, and a main stage fall production. From the emotionally charged The Miracle Worker, the stunning Quilters, the haunting Yours, Anne to the bittersweet Oliver!, Odyssey’s shows celebrate the rich literary and artistic heritage of the theater.
