Gilroy Gators top Cabrillo, Salinas in home opener
GILROY –The Gilroy Gators swim club opened its 2003 summer season with Saturday’s home tri-meet with the Cabrillo swim team and the Salinas Valley Aquatics.
The Gators won against both teams – topping Salinas by a wide 343-194 margin and Cabrillo by a wide 368-171 spread.
Winning their events in the top ‘A’ group for the Gators were:

The Gators, coached by Tom Clark, will have their next swim meet June 27-29 in Bishop.
SWAMP MONSTERS: Swamp Monsters on the move are 9-10 boys Kooper Knudson and Cooper Thomas, who both had improved times. The 9-10 girls standouts were Michele Shields, who won all her heats and anchored the relays, and Francesca Comin impoved on her times in all her events. The 11-12 girls were strong as a group with big improvements from the Gorman Twins. The 11-12 boys star was Phillip Watkins, anchoring two relays and winning all his races. Michael Filice also had a strong improvent in his events. The Swamp Monsters are coached by Andy Been.
