DEAR EDITOR:

The Gilroy Relay For Life Committee and the American Cancer Society will be honoring cancer survivors at our sixth annual Relay For Life. We invite you to attend and participate in the Opening Ceremony of this event.

The relay is a 24-hour celebration that will be held from 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 21 to 10 a.m. on Sunday, June 22 at the Christmas Hill Ranch Site.

An important part of the relay is the Survivor Ceremony and Walk. It is a time for your family, neighbors, friends, and the whole community to celebrate your victory over cancer. In order to make this event a success, we need YOU! We encourage all cancer survivors to come and be honored and, at the same time, offer hope and encouragement to others. I cannot express strongly enough how important your presence is to this event. Survivors will circle the track in the honorary first lap. You can run it, skip it, walk it or hitch a ride! Just, please, come and celebrate your success with us.

The Opening Ceremony begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday. You are also invited to attend the special Survivor’s Lunch following the Opening Ceremony. We would love to have you stay and participate as long as you like. For more information or to register in advance, call Ingrid Dick at 408-688-0117. When you arrive at the relay, please sign in at the survivor’s desk. We hope to see you there.
