after a lengthy illness.
Armando Corella Sr., 76, died at home Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Corella moved to Gilroy in 1953 from Nogales, Mexico, and had been a resident ever since. He worked at Gentry’s in Gilroy for 38 years as a lead man. He was a member and lector for many years at St. Mary’s Church, Gilroy. He also enjoyed playing baseball as a young man and watching boxing as he got older.
He was the loving husband of Josephine Corella of Gilroy; father of Armando Corella Jr. and his wife Alesen, of Santa Margarita, Mark Corella and his wife Kate, of Oceano, and Bobby Corella and his wife Christina, of Newman; grandfather of Denise, Hannah and Kevan, of Santa Margarita, Kristin, Michelle and Matthew, of Oceano, and Craig, Joel, Roxanne and Audrey of Newman; and brother of Enrique Corella of Las Vegas, Nev., Estella Sihas, of Nogales, Ariz., Graciela Corella, of Nogales, Sonora, Mexico. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Maria Corella, his brothers Roberto Corella and Fernando Corella and his sister Maria Partida.He was a native of Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico.
Rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. at Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy. Funeral Services will begin Friday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Then to St. Mary Church for mass at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Gilroy.
