Leroy T. Haygood, 63, died suddenly in San Jose.
Leroy was born in Drumwright, Okla. on April 13, 1940. He came to Gilroy with his family as a baby and spent most of his life here. He attended Gilroy Schools. Leroy was a construction worker and enjoyed fishing, camping, cooking and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Jody Haygood of San Jose; his children, Darryl Haygood of Morgan Hill, Deanna Haygood of Morgan Hill, Alan Haygood of Gilroy, Billy Haygood of San Jose and Katie Haygood of San Jose; his grandchildren, Christopher Haygood of Morgan Hill, Ashley Haygood, of Morgan Hill, Aaron Haygood of Gilroy and Laura Rose Ramos of Morgan Hill. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Albert Haygood of Gilroy, Leon Haygood of Gilroy, Tommy Haygood of Tracey, Wanda Parks of Patterson and Kathy Ledford of Gustine. He was preceded in death by his son, Larry Haygood, his sister Gracie Haney, his parents, Tom and Rose Haygood and his former wife, Laura McCurdy.
Service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Habing Family Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park, Gilroy.
