Police still searching for bank robber
GILROY – Police do not have any additional information on the man who robbed Gilroy’s Bank of the West Monday morning, but their investigation has concluded that the incident was unrelated to a similar unsolved robbery on April 12 at Monterey Bank, 805 First Street.
Bank of the West – which sports the large time and temperature sign on Monterey Road near First Street – will not disclose the amount of money taken in the robbery.
A bank surveillance tape showed the suspect as a 35-to 40-year-old male wearing a dark gray sweatshirt, a black knit stocking cap and mirrored sunglasses. The suspect passed a note to a teller claiming he had a gun and demanding money. He then fled the rear exit of the bank on foot.
Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call 846-0350.
