SAN JUAN BAUTISTA – San Benito County Sheriff’s deputies, working with the FBI, arrested alleged bank robber Michael Yost in San Juan Bautista on Monday.

Yost, 33, who was wanted in connection with six bank robberies in Monterey and Santa Cruz counties during the past 10 days, was arrested at approximately 9:30 a.m.

Yost, who is suspected of robbing banks in Salinas, Marina and Watsonville, was reportedly spotted at an apartment complex in San Juan Bautista.

Police and the FBI refused to reveal the address where Yost was arrested.

Yost is currently being held without bail in the Monterey County jail on bank robbery charges.

MH bank robbed

MORGAN HILL – A white male, thought to be armed, robbed the Bank of the West at 206 Tennant Station Way at 3:03 p.m. Monday.

The suspect, who is described as having light brown hair, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, and weighing between 160 to 170 pounds, allegedly presented a teller at the bank with a note that said he had a gun. The suspect made off with $1,300 in cash and fled on foot.

The suspect was wearing a bright orange T-shirt, jean shorts and a black baseball cap.
