Local teams continued to battle it out in local Orchard Valley
Youth Soccer League games this weekend.
U8 Boys
Gilroy Storm 7, MH Demons 3
The Morgan Hill Demons and Gilroy Storm played an exciting game this past Saturday. With the temperature around 100 degrees, the two teams played to a 3-2 first-half score. In the second half, the Storm pulled away to a 7-3 victory. The Storm were led from start to finish by Zack Loo, who scored an impressive five goals. Josue Salgado had several assists and added a goal of his own. Josh Wheat contributed with his first goal of the season and Andy Hernandez made some great saves in net.
U14 Girls
Cool Cats 3, Rambunctious Red 1
In the second half, Rambunctious Red simultaneously evened the score and spoiled the shut out, with team play and passing. Fullback Carissa Pierotti cleared the ball out of the goalbox, booting it upfield to Alexandria Comin, who won a brief battle with two anonymous Cool Cats and passed to forward Jennifer Rose, who broke away to drill the ball into the net from left field.
U10 Boys
Gators 3, Velociraptors1
Leo Melendez scored the first two goals for the Gators, with Kevin Jones scoring the third.
Blazers League
White Lightening 3, Cheetahs 2
In an exciting contest between well-matched girls soccer teams, the White Lightening squared off against the Cheetahs this Saturday, September 13. The end of the first half found the score tied at 1-1 on a goal by Emma Leach for White Lightening, and one by Andrea Kovach for the Cheetahs. In the second half, White Lighetning pulled ahead on two goals scored by Emily Barham. A last minute rally by the Cheetahs saw a goal by Gina Rodriguez, but the Lightening retained their lead with a final score of 3-2. The two teams face each other again at the end of the soccer season. It promises to be another great contest.
